The Scene Unfolds
As the sun began its descent over Koh Samui, a soft breeze carried the scent of frangipani across the rooftop terrace. Coldplay played gently in the background as guests took their seats, facing a horizon painted in warm shades of gold and rose. The Gulf of Thailand stretched endlessly ahead, waves brushing the shoreline below in quiet rhythm – nature’s own soundtrack to the celebration.
Fairy lights flickered on as the sky darkened, casting a romantic glow over the ceremony space. The setting was magic – effortless, elegant, and unmistakably personal.
From McDonald’s to Marriage
Yancong and Theingi’s story began in 2011 through a mutual friend. He was serving national service. She had just finished polytechnic. It could’ve ended there – but something clicked.

“Wah chiobu but don’t look like a normal Singaporean girl… so exotic, I like,” Yancong says, grinning. For Theingi, her first impression was simpler: “Wow, this army boy very tall.”
Their first date at McDonald’s marked the start of something real. “We were just so in tune with each other,” Theingi remembers.
Like old souls that had known each other for life.

Partners in Every Way
Not long after, their shared love for storytelling led them to start Heart To Heart Stories, a wedding photography and videography business that now takes them around the world. Working together only brought them closer – each shoot, edit, and creative brainstorm deepening their understanding of one another.

Yancong’s proposal at Meowmi Cat Café (a nod to their love of cats) was everything you’d expect from a filmmaker: documented, thoughtful, and completely them. “It wasn’t just a proposal,” Theingi says.
It was a reflection of what we do – and who we are.

The Wedding They Wrote Together
Originally, they planned to marry on Myanmar’s Ngwe Saung beach – a meaningful place for Theingi. But when things shifted, they landed on Koh Samui without ever setting foot there beforehand. “We chose the venue based on photos and Zoom calls alone,” Theingi shares.
It just felt right.

Their vision? Effortless and intentional. A low floral arch in crisp whites and greens framed the ocean view. A canopy of fairy lights set the mood for dinner on the sand. The aesthetic was fresh, modern, and grounded in their personalities.

Fashion was its own highlight. Theingi changed into five different looks throughout the day, each styled to reflect a different chapter. Yancong’s custom suits were the perfect complement – tailored, refined, and distinctly him.
A Day Full of Meaning
They started the day quietly, with a private first look at 8 a.m. “We wanted a moment just for us, before all the excitement,” Theingi says. Later that morning, a boat cruise gave them a chance to breathe and soak in the moment – something they now recommend to every couple.

For the ceremony, they chose not to have an officiant. Instead, they curated a 30-minute playlist of songs that had meaning to them – many of which were used in wedding films they’d created for others.
It was our way of honouring the journey that brought us here.

Theingi’s vows were ten minutes long – personal, reflective, and raw. She spoke of Myanmar, of loss, of resilience, and of how a dream once postponed led them here. There wasn’t a dry eye in sight.
And then came Yancong’s vow – quiet, confident, and straight from the heart: “You always ask me when I first fell in love with you. My answer is still the same – McDonald’s.”
On Doing It Their Way
“If there’s one thing we’d tell other couples, it’s this,” they share:
Remember why you’re doing this. Fill the day with things and people you love. Be intentional. Be present.

That intention was in every detail – from four playlists tailored to each part of the day, to creating a space where their fellow wedding vendors (and friends) could finally relax as guests, not just as the team behind the scenes.
“Love is a celebration,” Theingi says. “And we celebrated in our own way.” “Also… we’d probably make amazing wedding planners when we’re too old to shoot,” she added.

More than a beautiful wedding, this was a love story fully lived, deeply felt, and thoughtfully told – exactly how they’ve always done it.
