An All-White Tropical Micro-Wedding in Singapore

Last December, we were obsessed over the idea of an all-white wedding concept. This was before we knew how @fellowfolks and @beautifulgatherings had carried through their version of this concept in a private, ultra-intimate and minimalistic micro-wedding during Phase 2 in Singapore.

TWM’s team obsession with a “White Wedding” might have stemmed from it being Christmas season then, what Brendan (of @fellowfolks) had presented here comes infused with a fragrant tropical twist! It also draws upon the mystical workings of familiar celestial elements that have inspired so many of our swoon-worthy sayings today.

“I love you to the moon and back” – we hear them so often, in vows and in readings. We thought it might be a meaningful theme for a wedding. Through this theme we hope to marry the idea of “minimalism” and “ethereal” over a chic and clean set up.

Might we add, it was also a little dreamy and a little romantic. It also had made a statement. Set in a heritage three-storey shophouse on Mohammad Sultan Road, the modern celestial theme works in contrast to the warm tones brought by the red bricked walls of the space. Yet it had all worked out stunningly beautiful – a result that Brendan had set out to pursue from the onset.

Singapore was moving into Phase 2 then, and we were hoping to step forth and kick start wedding planning again – encouraging couples to start planning their solemnisation or wedding. There is no better way to kick start this, than to plan one to demonstrate how small wedding can be just as beautiful.

Not only are small weddings beautiful, but they can also be memorable and a great way for guests to have the chance to converse with one another. Here, Brendan makes it a point to help them get the conversation going –

A conversation starter – small coconut husks were placed, surrounding the floral selections. Not only did the brown husks add a tropical touch to the set-up but the orbs were a subtle nod to the moon.

We wouldn’t think coconuts could work so well here, but this little fruit had all that this concept embodies in addition to the white phalaenopsis, carnations and lightwood details that the team had used to complement the setting of the space.

What has intrigued us the most was how all these ultimately goes back to the celestial objects that had first inspired this concept. We find them strewn across all the little details that the couple had laid their hands on; on the day the moon and stars had aligned once again for them.

The moon and stars were used as graphic motifs throughout the details of their union; from the signage to stationery, wedding cake and even their matching bands. The welcome signage features artwork that alludes to the textures of the moon. And reflective holographic foil was used for the initials and ceremony details to avoid the public’s prying eyes.

What would we have given to be part of this very dreamy yet ultra-effortless celebration. Perhaps those who got to sit in S & W’s wedding had their lucky stars to thank!
